Vincenzo De Angelis has been the director of the Italian National Blood Centre (CNS) since 1st July 2020. Since September 2024 he has held the position for free.

Former head of the Transfusion Medicine Unit at the Santa Maria della Misericordia University Hospital in Udine, De Angelis was appointed by the Health Minister Roberto Speranza, and will remain at the helm of the National Blood Centre until 2025. Born in 1956, he had already collaborated with the Ministry of Health in European working groups on blood safety and with the CNS in working groups on issues such as the accreditation of blood transfusion facilities, the revision of ministerial decrees on the characteristics and modalities for blood donation and on protocols for ascertaining unfitness to donate. In addition, he took part along with the National Blood Centre and the World Federation of Haemophilia in cooperation programmes for the therapeutic support of haemophilia patients in developing countries.
