Pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 44/2013, which provides for the reorganisation of the collegial bodies and other bodies operating at the Ministry of Health, the Ministerial Decree of 8th August 2013 established the Technical Health Committee and the Technical Committee for Animal Nutrition and Health to which the functions of the collegial bodies and bodies that had been operating at the Ministry of Health up to then were transferred, including the Advisory Technical Committee for the Transfusion System (pursuant to Article 13 of Law 219/2005).

The Ministerial Decree of 26th September 2018 defines the compositions of the sections envisaged in the aforementioned Technical Health Committee, including the Technical Section for the Transfusion System, which includes 8 representatives from the Regional Coordination Centres, 4 representatives from Blood Donor Associations and Federations, 2 representatives from the associations of congenital haematological patients, and 2 representatives from the sector’s scientific societies.

The Ministerial Decree of 15th December 2021, partially amended by the Ministerial Decree of 21st January 2022 and of 19th Decembre 2022, re-established the organisation of the Transfusion Section.
