The new “Guidelines on the impact of Parvovirus B19 infection on transfusion safety” are now online.
The document was produced by a team of experts coordinated by the National Blood Centre, and it aims to evaluate the national epidemiological data of Parvovirus B19 (B19V) infection in the donor population, the implications on transfusion safety as compared to the increase of the incidence of positivity recorded by fractionation companies on plasma donations in the first quarter of 2024, based on currently available scientific evidence.
