With an official communication on the 1st of Octorber 2024 The Ministry of Health has approved the one-year continuation of the assignment as director of the Italian National Blood Centre to doctor Vincenzo De Angelis. Doctor De Angelis, who had held the position since 29 July 2020, had been forced to retire due to reaching the age limit since 25 September.

The decision of the minister, Orazio Schillaci, comes following the willingness given by Dr. De Angelis himself to continue his role for free.
